The Patriot will be available in three
configurations: front-wheel drive, Freedom Drive I (full-time,
active four-wheel drive system with Lock mode), and Freedom Drive II
Off-Road Package (full-time active four-wheel drive system with low
range for Jeep 4x4 Trail Rated capability).
The Trail Rated Patriot sits 2.5 cm higher than
the non-rated versions and includes 22.8 cm of ground clearance,
29-degree approach angle, 33-degree departure angle and 23-degree
breakover angle; it also has additional body sealing and
high-mounted drive-train vents to support 48 cm water fording
capability.
The Patriot features a 2.4-litre 'World Engine'
producing 172 hp and 165 lb-ft of torque, mated to a standard
five-speed manual transmission or available continuously variable
transmission (CVT). Outside North America, the Patriot will also be
available with a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine with six-speed manual
transmission.
Standard side-curtain airbags, Electronic
Stability Program, ABS, and electronic roll mitigation are included
on all models. Available features include a Boston Acoustics premium
sound system with articulating speakers in the lift-gate for
tailgating parties; a self-recharging removable cargo lamp that can
serve as a flashlight; sliding armrest with flip pocket for cell
phone or MP3 player; 115-volt outlet; fold-flat passenger front
seat; and navigation system.
The Patriot will be built at DaimlerChrysler's
newly-refurbished Belvidere, Illinois plant; its engine will be
produced at the Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance Assembly plant
in Dundee, Michigan.
